The Gorges of Toulourenc, the ochres of Roussillon or the village of l'Isle sur la Sorgue, do not miss these must-sees at less than an hour away from Crillon-le-Brave!

After weeks of confinement and cancelled trips in 2020, it is time to prepare the agenda for the new year. In your list of trips and destinations to discover, do not forget to include these destinations in Provence!

The Gorges of Toulourenc

Located about 35 minutes away from the Hotel Crillon le Brave, on the border with the Drôme Provençale, the Toulourenc is a river running along the Ventoux, which has dug deep gorges in the rock of its bed (up to 100 meters high in some places!). Sprinkled with gours and natural pools, they are perfect for walks with your feet in the water or simply to cool off in a wild and natural place during the hot summer months. All along the Toulourenc river, you can explore the valley and discover pretty typical Provencal villages such as the Hameau de Vaux or the village of Saint-Léger-du Ventoux. The latter is recognized as the smallest village in the Vaucluse.

The Provencal Colorado, a stroll in the ochres...

No need to go to America to find yourself in Colorado! Nicknamed "Le Colorado Provençal" (the Provençal colorado), the ochre quarries of Rustrel, just like the Ochre Trail in Roussillon, will amaze you with its variations of red, yellow and orange colors. We particularly recommend the Ochre Trail in Roussillon, a natural site shaped by erosion and laid out by the hands of Man so that everyone can enjoy the splendid views of these open-air quarries. Two walks are offered (between 30 and 60 minutes - but you can walk at your own pace) and easily accessible for the whole family.

Also take the opportunity to stroll through the narrow streets of the charming village of Roussillon, which offers splendid views of the Luberon and the ochre quarries. Classified as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France", it is a great place to sit on the terrace of a café, discover the galleries of the many artists or visit the pretty church and the belvedere.

L'Isle sur la Sorgue, the Venice of Provence

Nicknamed the Venice of Provence because of the river that runs through its narrow streets, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is also a paradise for the anitque shoppers and one of the prettiest cities in Provence. You will be able to admire old waterwheels from bridges covered with flowers, and stroll through its alleys, between stores, artists' studios and antique stores.
On Sundays, a large Provencal market invests the streets of the city center, and throughout the year you can discover the antique markets. On the first Sunday of August, don't miss the floating market!
